Casting Trolling Spoons for Steelhead
Tis the season for Fall Steelhead here in Cleveland, Ohio. Some fish will be trickling into the rivers, but the majority will be staging at the mouths and shoreline. This means casting heavy casting spoons as far as one can and cranking them back in hopes of a hook up with a roaming Chrome.
Now I am not a fan of wasting money on new tackle when I kinda, sorta, already have it… With BOXES of trolling “flutter” spoons, I cannot rationalize dropping another hundred or so stocking up on various colors and styles and weights of casting spoons. So I challenged myself to find a solution so that I could CAST trolling spoons from shore and be every bit if not more effective than guys fishing casting spoons. Whelp, an in-line weight with swivels later, I’m in the game!
I hope this tip helps you think outside the box the next time you decide a lure would be a great option, “if only” you could get it out there. Until next time, tight lines.
